Monaco - Sass Café

David Coulthard says it’s his favourite nightclub, Bono celebrated his birthday there with Brad & Angelina, and the web site is a ‘who’s who’ gallery of sport and showbiz stars, all photographed with an aging bespectacled male with wild grey hair called Sass.

Sass Café has it all - food, music, champagne and more than the odd enterprising female Russian entrepreneur.

A table inside is the hotspot all crave but sadly space is limited and, even being Sass’ best friend (he seems to have many) will still have you joining the masses on the pavement where the tables seem to go on and on forever.

It is nevertheless impressive that Sass continually circulates welcoming all with a handshake or kiss. He does ooze charisma.

The food is not expensive but the champagne is. Expect to pay several hundred Euros for your bubbles. Even on the street, the ambience is vibrant and you really don’t feel like a second best outcast reject.

We turned up just before midnight and the place was buzzing. Book a table and don’t plan to leave until well into the early hours.

Who says Monaco is dull!
