Be selfish at Selfridges

Where do you go in Selfridges for a break from shopping?

Sandwiched between Stella McCartney and Marni, is a slick looking eatery called Obika, which describes itself as a ‘Mozzarella bar’.  Excellent mozzarella can be very difficult to find in the UK.

Most places seem to sell or serve a dried up lump, which has more in common with congealed toothpaste than moist, succulent cheese.

The menu is a specialist affair offering Mozzarella di Bufala Campana in a number of different guises and dishes. The web site goes into great detail about Obika’s mozzarella, its sources and production.  They certainly take their cheese very seriously.

This was mid morning and Obika only serves coffee until midday.  However, the manager very kindly agreed to arrange a crostoni with parma ham and mozzarella.

It was £9 and worth every penny.

When in Selfrides, be selfish, and drop into Obika for some real mozzarella.
