Mumbai - Masala Kraft

Spring 2008

'if you're staying at the Taj, it's a good Indian option'

Masala Kraft is one of several restaurants in the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower hotel. The hotel describes Masala Kraft as ‘ a bit of East meets West, blending aromatic Indian spices with modern cooking technologies’.

The nasty plastic menu gives a false impression of the cuisine to follow which really is very good.

Served simultaneously on a combination of interlocking plates, we shared chicken in aromatic spices, Malabar fish curry with mango and coconut, saffron rice with fresh vegetables and a vegetable raita.

This is the most casual of the Taj Mahal Palace hotel’s restaurants and, although, looking out to the swimming pool, the only sunlight slips through two smallish windows.

However, as a lunchtime escape from the blistering Mumbai heat, Masala Kraft offers interesting Indian dishes in a cool, dark environment.
