Los Angeles - Lucky Fish
Spring 2009
Frank's view
'Fine for a lunchtime drop in.'
If you’ve been shopping on Rodeo Drive, fancy something light, and don’t want to go to the expense of a 5 star hotel, you could always try Lucky Fish on nearby North Canon Drive.
It trades on the gimmicky ‘Kaiten-Sushi’ format, invented in Japan in the early 1960s, where plates go round the restaurant on a conveyor belt, passing every table (except the ones outside).
Apparently each plate is electronically tagged and is automatically ejected from the belt after 60 minutes.
Alternatively, you can order from a waiter who will guide you towards the speciality rolls, prepared to order by the sushi chefs.
Each plate or roll varies between $3.50 - £6.50, which represents pretty good value.
The web site is ridiculously OTT.
