Munich - Limoni Ristorante
Summer 2007
Frank's view
'Take the chef's recommendations.'
Appearances can be deceiving.
Located in the business district of Munich, this restaurant looks like a trendy pasta joint from the outside, and indeed, the inside. All the tables are for two, in the style of a cafe, but can be pushed together to create any combination required. Those seated against the wall have a cushioned bench whereas those on the other side of the table, facing the mirror on the wall (always a good idea), have to put up with an uncomfortably hard wooden seat.
There is an outside eating area with two lines of plastic tables and chairs, and absolutely no appealing view whatsoever.
However, the food is a revelation.
Whilst waiting for the starter, we were presented with homemade breads and crudities.
I started with seared tuna and a very light ginger mousse. It was excellent.
The manager had recommended an intermediate course; a small dish of homemade pasta with chorizo sausage and fennel seeds. This was also very good.
To follow was sea bream, simply grilled, with salad.
The service was very attentive and the prices very reasonable, considering the quality of the cuisine. Main courses were all around 20 euros.
If you happen to be in the business district of Munich, Limoni Ristorante is a very good option for either lunch or supper.
