Paris - L'Avenue

Spring 2008
Frank's view
'beautiful people only'

The camel always aims to visit restaurants in every day circumstances, but on this occasion it all went wonderfully wrong.

This is Paris Fashion Week and we are sitting outside L’Avenue on Avenue Montaigne, the Bond Street, Rodeo Drive and Via Condotti of Paris.

The people watching is sensational.

Plaza Athenee is a few metres away,  Prada and Gucci are almost opposite, and the Eiffel Tower is looking back towards us from just over the river.

L’Avenue is perfect for breakfast or lunch.  Outside is the place to sit, underneath the heaters if the weather is suspect.  However, the overbearing deep red velvet soft furnishings inside are to be avoided, unless you are seated by the window.

This place is all about a break from shopping and people watching.  The food is simply an accompaniment to the visual feast of Parisians posing.

Don’t make a special trip but if you happen to be in the vicinity, you won’t be bored.
