Venice - Hosteria Al Vecio Bragosso

Summer 2008
Frank's view
'a good lunchtime break for weary feet'

Alex was so good, as was this typical Italian eatery, we went back twice.

Alex, (a most unlikely Italian name), was our waiter.

He enthusiastically led us through the menu and suggested the fish Carpaccio to share, followed by the pasta and clams.

The Carpaccio consisted of sea bass, swordfish, tuna, octopus and scampi on a disappointingly wilted bed of lettuce.  However the fish was very good.

The pasta with clams (€8.50) was excellent and Alex threw in a complimentary scampi risotto, which was fantastic too.

He then delivered a variety of puddings, mostly on a toffee and banana concept.

The entire lunch worked out at around €20 a head.

Sadly on our second visit we arrived late and, having failed to request a table outside, were forced to sit in the restaurant, which was not a disaster but an outside table would have been preferable.
