Cathay Pacific
Spring 2007
Frank's view
We have long been fans of Cathay Pacific. I particularly love the Lynch Bages which they serve on long haul in First.
The service is consistently very attentive and food consistently good.
However, on flights within Asia, they do seem to operate aging planes which are in need of refurbishment. The Singapore – Hong Kong route, for example, does not compare with the service offered by Singapore Airlines, which is surprising as there must be huge competition between the two airlines for business on this route.
There are interesting inconsistencies within Cathay when it comes to security.
It amused us that in “The Pier” dining room (One of Cathay’s First Class lounges in Hong Kong airport) we were provided with a plastic knife and a sharp metal fork. On the subsequent flight to San Francisco we were given a metal knife which certainly had the potential to inflict damage! Should not this have been the other way around?
