'Go very early for cocktails'
The view is the best in the world.
36 floors above Sydney harbour, floor to ceiling windows, the setting is perfect.
You might struggle to find the front door of the building, which is on a back street behind The Rocks district.
I stayed in the hotel a number of years ago when it was the ANA. The hotel is now owned by Shangri La, and although I haven’t stayed there, Blu Horizon bar is still worth a visit.
The challenge is to secure a table, particularly as the management is careful to control numbers in the bar.
You really do have to arrive early, even on weekdays, when office workers pile in for some after work grog.
If you are lucky and secure a table, don’t let it go!
