Singapore Airlines

Spring 2007
Frank's view

Singapore Air has frequently been voted the World’s Best Airline, and I can understand why.

Singapore Air’s Business Class is on a par with some airlines' First Class.  The service is always consistently excellent and the food very good.  You can pre-order special meals via the web site.  For example, if you wish to only eat seafood this can easily be arranged and the food is as good, if not better than, the standard meal offerings.

The entertainment system is cutting edge and seems to have been adopted by Virgin who, of course, are co-owned by Singapore Air.

First Class is the best I have ever experienced.  Fabulous service.  A choice of Dom Perignon or Krug.  Givency sleep suits.  Excellent food.

Singapore used to provide handy travel size containers of Bulgari shaving foam.  Tragically this is no more.  They were ideal for frequent travel.

The First Class lounge at Changi Airport, Singapore, is probably the best airline lounge in the world. The lounge has a champagne bar and a first class selection of food which is on offer throughout the day.

The Business Class Kris Flyer lounge is also very good.

Singapore Air makes it fairly easy to reach silver and PPS, their equivalent of Gold. The ultimate level is Solitaire which is designed to reward and retain customers who have shown long term loyalty to Singapore Air.

It is a pity BA do not have such a scheme.
